Who are we?

Alan Haslam

Background: Alan was a Founder Member of Heritage Afloat, joining as a representative of the Steamship Shieldhall. He was also a founder member of the SS Shieldhall project, his attention having been drawn to the project in 1986 by his wife who noticed an appeal for volunteers in a local paper. On the Shieldhall project, Alan was one of the early supporters of returning the vessel to a passenger-carry sea-going state. Many others had doubts over the viability with so large a vessel. Alan has held the positions of Vice Chairman of the charitable side of Shieldhall's operation and as director of its trading company. Alan is married with four grown-up daughters.
